About the portal
Pathogen Portal CZ is a central gateway to data on the occurrence of infectious diseases in the Czech Republic — clinical, environmental, and genomic surveillance in one place. It serves researchers, public health professionals and the public.
What you will find here
- Dashboards for individual pathogens — COVID-19, influenza and ARI, notifiable infectious diseases from ISIN, wastewater surveillance, phylogenetics, and situation reports for active outbreaks.
- Signals — automated detection of exceedances above the expected level across more than 1,200 time series of notified diseases. A statistical screen, not a confirmed outbreak.
- Datasets and analyses the charts are built from.
Where the data comes from
Every dashboard carries a badge showing the origin of its data, because it differs substantially from page to page:
| Badge | What it means |
|---|---|
| Public source | Data published by an external institution (Czech MoH, ÚZIS, NIPH, ECDC, Czech Statistical Office). The portal collects and visualises it; the original source is authoritative. |
| Our data | Produced by us, or handed to us for processing. We stand behind it. |
| AI-processed | Collected from public sources and written by an AI agent, reviewed by a subject-matter expert before publication. |
Who runs the portal
The portal is being developed as part of the ELIXIR IMPACT2 project, supported by the Swiss-Czech Cooperation Programme, and runs on CESNET infrastructure.
The full list of collaborating institutions is on the Partners page; the people behind it are listed under People.
